September 27, 2011
The Bloomington Kids’ SAFARI Afterschool Program will host a Lights On Afterschool celebration Monday, Oct. 17, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Oak Grove Elementary, 1301 W. 104th St. All Bloomington families are invited to join us to celebrate the importance of leaving the “lights on” afterschool.
Evening events include a family-friendly DJ, dance contests, bingo, and arts and crafts activities. Refreshments will also be available.
This October, more than 7,500 communities and 1 million Americans will celebrate Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide event organized by the Afterschool Alliance to celebrate the importance of afterschool programs that keep our kids safe, inspire them to learn, and help working families.
Currently, all Bloomington elementary schools offer a before and after school program called, Kids’ SAFARI. The focus of the program is to help children discover friendship, independence, and confidence through art, science, music, sports, academics and recreational activities.
