Bloomington Public Schools has received a school bus stop arm camera grant of $154,400 to fund the purchase and installation of 60 camera systems and supporting software programs.

The district currently deploys 19 high-definition stop-arm camera systems in its fleet. The grant will help to improve the safety of the thousands of bus-riding students, according to Lisa Foust, transportation manager.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety partnered with the Minnesota State Patrol to offer grants to schools and bus companies to add stop arm camera systems to their school buses.
