BCCA Spotlight: Ethan Schoenhofen

Bloomington Career and College Academy (BCCA) spotlights one student each trimester, highlighting their BCCA experience and pathway choice. This trimester’s spotlight is on Jefferson High School senior Ethan Schoenhofen, who is taking classes in two BCCA pathways: Fire Science and Information Technology (IT).

“Taking classes in the two pathways has benefitted me because they complement each other. Fire is more physical and IT is more mental,” said Schoenhofen.

BCCA offers students the opportunity to explore or begin a career path while in high school. Students can choose from eight pathways where they learn from college instructors and earn college and high school credit, free of charge.

“What motivated me to sign up for BCCA classes was that it is more advanced, it’s very hands-on, and I’m earning 21 college credits this year,” said Schoenhofen.

Schoenhofen plans to continue taking more IT classes during the second and third trimesters. He says after high school he would like to pursue a help desk or system administrator job. 

“The classes and specialized teachers in BCCA have really prepared me and guided me towards that goal. I am also considering doing T2C (Transition to College) next year to further my education in this pathway at Hennepin Technical College,” said Schoenhofen.
