Kennedy High School junior Addison Wendt qualified for the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) National Tournament, the first time a Kennedy debate team member has qualified for nationals. The tournament will take place June 16-21, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Wendt placed second in the Senate in Congressional Debate at the Southern Minnesota District Tournament Nov. 17-18, securing her spot in the national tournament where she will compete in the same category. The Bloomington high school debate team is coached by Meredith Aby-Keirstead, Arthur Harris, and Abiha Kasif.

NSDA is the largest interscholastic speech and debate organization serving middle and high school students. The National Tournament draws 6,000 students from more than 1,200 schools across the country.
