Normandale Hills Elementary teacher Jennifer Hadden has been chosen to receive the Inclusive Educator Award for her work to support the inclusion of unique learners. The award is given by Intermediate School District 917, which provides specialized programming to member districts including Bloomington Public Schools.

Hadden specializes in working with students who have moderate to severe mental impairment (MSMI). Hadden’s peers nominated her for the award saying she develops learning programs that include all of her students, has high-level expectations of students and staff, and incorporates accommodations into her curriculum.

Hadden also works with other teams to demonstrate strategies to make sure all students’ needs are understood and included in the classroom.

The Inclusive Educator award was created to coincide with Inclusive Schools Week, Dec. 4-8, which highlights and celebrates the progress schools make to implement inclusive practices and ensure high-quality education for an increasingly diverse student population.
