Justin Lund, a developmental adapted physical education (DAPE) teacher at Poplar Bridge Elementary School, is recognized as a Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) America Teacher of the Year for the organization’s central district. Lund is one of 16 educators across the country to earn this recognition.

The award recognizes excellence in adapted physical and health education. Lund is eligible to apply to be a National Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year, to be announced at the SHAPE America National Convention and Expo in Cleveland, Ohio in March.

DAPE is a specially designed physical education instruction for students with disabilities, delays and disorders in physical development. It is an area Lund serves as a leader in. He was previously named Minnesota SHAPE’s Teacher of the Year last fall. Lund also serves as a regional representative for the Minnesota DAPE committee.
