Jefferson, Kennedy high schools name Triple ‘A’ nominees

Seniors Renee Peacha and Alex Malecha (Jefferson) and Michelle Sarpong and Joseph Madsen (Kennedy) are this year’s Academics, Arts and Athletics Award (Triple ‘A’) nominees. 

Each year, high school seniors are selected for their participation in Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) sponsored arts and athletics while maintaining high academic standing. Finalists will be honored at the Triple ‘A’ on-court ceremony held in conjunction with the boys’ State Basketball Tournament in March and are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Peacha participates in gymnastics, track and field, and visual arts while maintaining a 4.17 GPA.

Malecha plays hockey, baseball with all-conference honors, and band while maintaining a 4.11 GPA.

Sarpong’s activities include track and field, orchestra, and band, earning all-conference honors in all three. She also participates in visual arts and maintains a 4.23 GPA.

Madsen is the captain of the cross country team, a section leader in band, has received superior ratings in solo/ensemble choir, and maintains a 3.916 GPA.
