Welcome to Washburn Elementary School - a cozy neighborhood school with more than 400 bright, diverse and curious students. We believe all students can learn in an environment that is positive, culturally responsive and student-centered. We’re committed to helping students develop academic and social-emotional skills while holding everyone to high expectations.
Hands-on learning
Our amazing outdoor classroom inspires all types and styles of learning, offering opportunities for rich, hands-on, real world experiences across the curriculum. The space includes native plants, classroom vegetable garden beds and our own weather station. We also have a Makerspace design lab, a collaborative work space for exploring, discovering, problem solving and creating. Our design projects open up the world of engineering, physics, robotics, computer science and more to our students.
Strong school community
We are committed to partnering with our families so kids have the best possible learning experience at school and at home. We encourage our parents and families to be actively involved in their child's education. Our dedicated parent-teacher association organizes themed family nights like STEM, reading, math and international nights. Monthly Parents in Education (PIE) nights include a free meal and fun, educational activities.
